Stress

I thought what we learned about in class today was very interesting. Teenagers don't have a lot of stress in there lives but because they are going through so many changes in life as while, from being a kind into an adult, they are very confused. I think this makes teenagers stress leaves even worse then some adults just because they are so confused to being Whit and don't know how to cope with their problems. I found this video and i thought it did a really good job showing how teenagers deal whit their lives and all of the stress they have. I found i really cool as well because it relates teens to different objects and it makes perfect sense. It is a long video but who knows it could relate to you and you could learn something new and how to cope with your own personal stress. MOVIE

Brain Disorders

I thought all of the Brain disabilities we learned about very interesting, but the one that I found most amazing was savant syndrome. The movie we watched in class about the kid who was blind and could play the piano I thought was really cool. I found another movie about the same kid we watched in class and another music savant who could even pick out the pitches of a train that was moving. He could even play two pianos at once. Both of the boys were very disabled in their normal every day lives but when they started playing the piano you couldn't even tell they had problems. Another movie I found was about a person who could draw an areal view of any town. He took a helicopter ride over Rome and three days later was asked to draw everything he saw. He got the entire view correct. Most artist couldn't even do that. They would need a picture to look off of and would need to measure out the town on the paper first so they didn't run out of room, but the guy with the savant syndrome didn't need either. He had the view completely memorized. People with savant syndrome have amazing memories and it is a remarkable talent.

The Brain

The brain is very complex. Every part and section has a different program and is in charge of something different. As you age those parts change. For example language, when you are younger different parts of the brain work to hear someone talking but when you age and learn to speak the parts of the brain used to register the words change. The parts of the brain are broken up into two sections. The left brain and the right brain. The left brain is in charge of your math skill and organization when your right brain is your creativity and artistic ability. This movie is a test to see if you are a right brain person or a left brain person. Link. Watch the clip and see if the person is moving clockwise or counterclockwise. If you see it moving clockwise then you use more of your right side of your brain and is you see it moving counterclockwise you use your left side of your brain more. I don't get how this works it's kind of weird but i saw it moving clockwise. If you can see the girl spinning both ways then you use both parts of your brain fairly equal. Here is another clip of a really cool optical illusion. Watch this closely and see what way the people are spinning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilaHDcfA9Eg&feature=related. I got really dizzy watching that. For me they were spinning clockwise and for a split second I would see the one on the right spinning a different way. Now Here  is the same movie but it is a lot easier to tell what way the are spinning. Just like the fist video what way you see the girl spinning is what side brain you are.
Tell me if you think this works or not or if you could figure it out!

2nd blog

Carl Jung came up with the idea of collective unconscious. He said this is part of the unconscious mind dealing with the nervous system. It basically is saying that everyone has a sense of certain things. For example everyone knows there is love even if they have never personally experienced it before. or also religion. Some people don't have a religion but still know they are out there and understand the concepts even though they have never experienced it. Carl Jung also discovered Archetypes witch is a model of a person, it is their person, personality or behaviors. These are copied in every individual. This is part of the collective unconscious but more specific. This is more saying that everyone know of super hero's and knows that they are good. These are also memory traces.
Alfred Adler said that every child is inferior because they are surrounded by stronger more capable adults. The child wants to have power and when they don't accomplish a goal they have inferiority complex. A child has this also if they are rejected discriminated, bullied or have physical disability.
Karen Honey studied woman vs. men. She did not believe in penis envy but came up with the theory of womb envy. She said that woman are dependent on men not because of the penis envy but for love, wealth, care and protection. She based this off of society. She decided that woman can satisfy themselves by giving birth. Karen concluded that men wanted to be a mother and therefor envied woman. The only reason men are stronger then woman in her eyes was because men treat woman bad and become more dominate and then make the woman feel unworthy.

IDs, Egos, and Superegos

Today in class we discussed how everyone has an ID, Ego and Superego. I found this all very interesting. In every situation you are in these come into play. When you think about a situation you were in today or a decision you had to make there was always different options you could have chosen. The ID voice in your head is always the bad voice, like the devil on your shoulder telling you what you want, while the superego is telling you what is the right thing to do and how you were raised by your parents to act. You are the ego and have to decide what to do. Just think about it for a secound. Pick a decsion you had to make today and remember what you were thinking while dicideing what to do. While you  think of it im sure you can pick out what the ID and superego was. ID ego and superegoSigmund Freud came up with this theory and a lot of other theory's that aren't always true. This video i found does a good job explaining the IDs, egos and superegos. The video is a little old and cheeses but kinda funny with it being so old and trying to be serious. If you watch it closer to the end it talks a lot about what we discussed in class today with what men want.
Enjoy
