IDs, Egos, and Superegos

Today in class we discussed how everyone has an ID, Ego and Superego. I found this all very interesting. In every situation you are in these come into play. When you think about a situation you were in today or a decision you had to make there was always different options you could have chosen. The ID voice in your head is always the bad voice, like the devil on your shoulder telling you what you want, while the superego is telling you what is the right thing to do and how you were raised by your parents to act. You are the ego and have to decide what to do. Just think about it for a secound. Pick a decsion you had to make today and remember what you were thinking while dicideing what to do. While you  think of it im sure you can pick out what the ID and superego was. ID ego and superegoSigmund Freud came up with this theory and a lot of other theory's that aren't always true. This video i found does a good job explaining the IDs, egos and superegos. The video is a little old and cheeses but kinda funny with it being so old and trying to be serious. If you watch it closer to the end it talks a lot about what we discussed in class today with what men want.
Enjoy

  1. Katie, this is a great post! It's similar to mine, but I think we both left out a pretty important part. Freud's generalized ID, Ego, and Superego are good points, but do you think there are other influences to making a decision? Do you think he should have elaborated more on the causes and consequences of a situation?

  2. Yeah, alana I agree with you.I think dicision makeing also has to do a lot with past expirence. If you had to deal with a similar situation in the past your choice in the end is going to be different then what you might have diceded to do before. I think he should have put more explinations in his findings but he wasn't right on a lot of things he came up with so who knows it any of it would have made sense. If that makes any sense.
